چکیده

Numerical experimentation is an attractive complement to physical measurement of rock properties. In such experiments, a physical process is simulated in a pore space and then the corresponding property is calculated. For example, a simulation of viscous fluid flow through pores provides permeability. Many authors have used pore-scale numerical methods, such as Lattice-Boltzmann and network modeling, and showed that absolute and relative permeability can be accurately estimated. Massive and fast numerical experimentation can be used by the geoscientist and engineer in many applications, e.g., to (a) explore the effects of deposition and diagenesis on permeability by digitally altering the images of original samples; (b) estimate permeability from drill cutting and side-wall plugs which are not large enough for standard laboratory measurements; and (c) relate permeability to other properties, such as electrical conductivity, dielectric permittivity, elastic moduli, and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) response. The application of Committee machine with particle swarm optimization to the assessment of permeability based on thin section image analysis

Permeability is the ability of porous rock to transmit fluids and one of the most important properties of reservoir rock because oil production depends on the permeability of reservoirs. Permeability is determined using a variety of methods which are usually expensive and time consuming. Reservoir rock properties with image analysis and intelligent systems has been used to reduce time and money...

Performance Model for Vertical Wells with Multi-stage Horizontal Hydraulic Fractures in Water Flooded Multilayer Reservoirs

For the characteristics of horizontal fractures in shallow low-permeability oil layers after hydraulic fracturing in multilayer reservoirs, horizontal fractures are taken equivalent to an elliptical cylinder with the reservoir thickness using the equivalent permeability model; then, upon the elliptic seepage theory, the seepage field which has led by a vertical well with horizontal fractures is...

Improving reservoir rock classification in heterogeneous carbonates using boosting and bagging strategies: A case study of early Triassic carbonates of coastal Fars, south Iran

An accurate reservoir characterization is a crucial task for the development of quantitative geological models and reservoir simulation. In the present research work, a novel view is presented on the reservoir characterization using the advantages of thin section image analysis and intelligent classification algorithms. The proposed methodology comprises three main steps. First, four classes of...

Experimental Investigations into the Collapse of Simple and Reinforced Thin-Walled Channel Beams under Bending Loads

In this paper, collapse behavior of simple and reinforced thin-walled channel- section beams, subjected to three- point bending, is investigated. Many simple channel- section beams of different geometry and some reinforced ones were tested, and their strengths after collapse were obtained thoroughly. Since the available theories in this area are complicated and little attention has been paid to...
